“A car packed with at least 110 pounds (50 kilograms) of explosives blew up in an office district of Colombia’s capital Thursday, shattering windows and injuring nine people, police said. No deaths were reported.

The blast occurred at 5:30 a.m. (1030 GMT) outside a 12-story building housing Caracol Radio, the Spanish news agency EFE and the Ecuadorean consulate, as well as the offices of several banks and politicians, including former President Cesar Gaviria.

“A bombing in Northern Ireland is the latest in a series of attacks targeting police, sparking fears of a return to the years of unrest in Northern Ireland known as ‘the Troubles.’

The latest bombing appeared intended to hit police, but injured three children, hit by flying debris and then treated in a hospital.

“Gunmen killed a Yemeni intelligence officer in the flashpoint southern province of Lahij, a security official said on Saturday.

‘Armed men ambushed the chief of the Lahij intelligence service’s investigations department, Colonel Ali Abdul Kareem al-Ban, who was killed in a hail of bullets,’ the official told AFP.

The attack took place on Friday evening in Hamra village near the town of Hutah where security forces were swiftly deployed, witnesses said.

The forces later arrested up to eight supporters of the Southern Movement, a source from the coalition of groups wanting greater autonomy or independence for the region said on Saturday.

The Department of Homeland Security warned Metro about an unconfimed threat to the D.C. Metro system on Sunday.

NBC4 obtained an internal memo from Homeland Security about the concern. Someone traveled to Turkey last July to obtain a U.S. visa to come to the States to blow up an unspecified Metro station, the memo said.”

“Investigators in the United Arab Emirates have concluded that an Omani suicide bomber in an explosives-laden motorboat attacked a Japanese-owned oil tanker last week as it traveled through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, according to a person familiar with the investigation.

The U.A.E. is the first government to confirm that the mysterious July 28 incident, which dented the tanker’s hull and slightly injured one of its crew, was a terrorist attack.”
